The Burning Marshmallow!

Last night, the youth group at my church had their Thanksgiving party thing. They all started at one house, then moved on to another family’s house. Since we were the last house, we served dessert and we roasted marshmallows. There was about 20 teenagers at our house. My dad told one of the teenagers to stick a flaming marshmallow in their mouth for ten dollars. The kid thought about doing it, but ended up being smart and not doing it.   :-)    Anyway, I thought about our bodies being a temple, since he almost did it. We should never do anything to ruin or destroy our bodies. My dad made the teenager think about what the Bible says about burning marshmallows.

Stress Relief-Business

Today the service was about Business. It has to do with our new series- Stress Relief. It was about not always being out doing something and trying to find some time each day to spend with God. I learned that everybody is busy and that we all need to keep the Sabbath day holy and find a separate time to be alone with God. Psalm 23 helped me with letting the Lord be the focus of my life. It can help me with being less busy and more focused on God:

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.

Operation Christmas Child

Does your church or school or club do Christmas boxes for needy children? My church and school does.  At church today the kids decorated boxes then brought them home to fill up with little toys and things.  After everybody has filled up there box, we will send them to a place where the boxes are shipped off to poor kids.  When you fill a box, you choose whether it be for a boy or girl.  Then you choose what age group: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.  I am doing one for a girl ages 10 -14.  I chose that so I have a better perspective of what they would enjoy getting in a little shoe box.  I hope all the kids that receive a box will hear about the story of Jesus  and how they can be saved.  I hope they learn that God loves them very, very much.  I think this is a great way to show our love to other people.  If your school or church doesn’t do this, you should fill a box to show that you care for those poor kids living in a world we would rather not live in.

Doughnuts

I love being able to eat doughnuts and have a cup of lemonade before the service starts.  My favorite doughnut is the chocolate glazed.  My brother, Zac, likes the powdered doughnut filled with chocolate icing.  I have never had that because Zac said it is really messy.  (I believe him.);-)  There is usually lemonade, orange juice, and fruit punch.  Most people get the lemonade. Today, I think I might get a sprinkled doughnut and lemonade.  What kind is your favorite doughnut?
